An outdoor kitchen shopping list should follow the cooking methods and appliance designs. A pizza oven, barbecue and cool worktop have different material requirements. Draw the layout first, identifying purchased appliances and parts that will be built on site.
Separate the hot sections from the fittings
List the firebox, flue route, insulation and decorative finish separately. Vitcas firebricks can form a compatible refractory working lining. The list does not replace the installation instructions for a purchased oven or barbecue.
Include support, surrounding conditions and operation. Mark cleaning access, replaceable parts and worktop interfaces. Establish which surfaces will contact food and confirm whether the selected products are intended for that duty.
Calculate each group from its own dimensions
Outdoor Oven Cement is selected for specified exterior refractory joints. Calculate the quantity from the brick format and planned joints. For ceramic fibre blanket, use the chamber area, insulation thickness, cuts and enclosure arrangement.
Do not calculate every material from the kitchen's overall floor area. Adhesive, mortar, insulation and exterior coating have different coverage rates. Record the dimensions and assumptions used in each calculation so the installer can check them.
Order materials by construction stage
- Approve the design, support and appliance dimensions first.
- Order materials for the working linings and insulation next.
- Select adhesives, jointing materials and finishes for the confirmed arrangement.
- Provide storage conditions suitable for each product.
Include weather, setting, drying and delivery access for heavy components in the schedule. Keep the required quantities separate from spare material and optional fittings. This makes scope changes easier to assess without overlooking a layer needed for the firebox to function as designed.
